Dell system support suggested a Bios update - but when I explored this - it suggested I would not want to download an older Bios A01 - I have A06.

Hi I have a Inspiron 3543 laptop, i7-5500U 8Gb RAM, Nvidia 840M 2Gb, Win 10 Home
The laptop boots quickly without issues, during normal operation (web browsing, accessing the file system) it just freezes randomly for up to 5-10 minutes a time showing 100% disk usage. There is plenty of disk space it's a 1TB drive I have 900 Gb free! I have done the following things which haven't fixed my problems.
Turned off SuperFetch, turned off all app notifications, turned off BITS.
I have removed all antivirus software from the computer other than Windows Defender.
Installed the latest device drivers from Dell, flashed the BIOS, Chipset, Video Drivers.
Turning off SpeedStep in BIOS improved performance dramatically but the computer still does this.
The BIOS diagnostic tool didn't show up any hardware problems.
Curiously I am able to delay this from happening if I don't access the file system, ie use Windows Explorer. Opening any folders from the desktop instantly causes this problem.

I got this laptop newly refurbished and it was working fine. I would connect and disconnect the AC adapter during use and the laptop would keep running. Once I accidentally plugged the jack in only about half way and it stayed that way for a few seconds and an error came on the screen about not recognizing the adapter.
Since then, I'm not sure if it's related to that, but whenever I connect/disconnect the adapter, the computer reboots, immediately.
I shut it down, removed the battery and drained the laptop and it fixed the problem temporarily. It just keeps happening.

I've a problem with a DELL Inspiron N5110.
When I turn on the laptop, the fan is working for 15 seconds then it turns off by itself.. but the Windows boots properly and the other components work fine.
I know that I can't use my laptop if the CPU fan doesn't work because it will overheat the cpu and the motherboard so..
Could you please give me an opinion ?

My new Inspiron won't detect anything connected to the Type-C port. All other USB ports work fine. Even the Dell USB<->HDMI adapter (DA200) isn't detected.
I've updated the BIOS and chipset drivers to no avail. When I do the online USB diagnostics, the USB Port Test fails, but no other information is provided.
Any ideas?

I upgraded my Dell XPS 15 L521x from Windows 7 to 10 a couple of days ago and it ran OK for about 24 hrs then suddenly stopped with a 'critical process died' blue screen. The automatic repair didn't work, nor did the rollback to W7 and it won't start in safe mode.
About 10 days ago I did a complete system backup and (I think) made an image of the HD. They are both on an external HD.
What should I do next to restore my laptop?

Am thinking of upgrading my Inspiron 1545 laptop to Windows 10. I successfully did an N5010 upgrade last week and only lost the bluetooth (to an unsupported driver).
Anyone know of any compatibility issues with the 1545? I see it hasn't yet been tested, but would like to move to it.

I have a Inspiron 15 7000 Series 7559. It is 5 months old. The left hinge started clicking and now everytime my computer opens the computer is starting to come apart. I have the premium warrenty. I have called 3 times today and talked to different people. I have been disconnected 3 times with no one calling me back. They say that the hinges are not covered under warrenty. It hasn't been dropped or mistreated. I have been a dell customer for over 15 years so i'm not sure why they are giving me a hard time or not calling me back. Also while gaming my fan is running super hot.
Does anyone have any suggestions or a number I should call to get actual decent help.

Since upgrading Windows 10 Pro to with the Anniversary update my screen sort of changes tint from light to a sort of yellow tint... The image stays clear and does not flicker... I think I have seen this before due to Windows/Intel trying to adjust the brightness of the display to save power - although this might not be the cause of my problem... Things were perfect before the anniversary update, anyone else seen this? Thanks, Peter

I have a Dell 15R 7520 for a while now and it always worked great until a few days back it started giving me a blue screen error "DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE". After that it would sometimes got stuck on the dell splash screen but a quick reset would make it boot again normally. I updated all the drivers I could find to see if it would get better but didnt work.
This problem was getting worse and worse until one day I got another blue screen error "CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED". After that it rarelly boots and usually just stay stuck on the Dell splash screen. Also when booting it does a lot of beeping sounds (more than 4) and something that seems like HD or disc reading (that is no disk inserted)
I have already tried a few thing from this forum:
* Unplug all power sources and battery, hold down the power button and reboot.
* Change a BIOS setting from SMART Intel Boot (something like that) to AHCI and then back.
* Reseat the memory
But its getting really hard to retry anything because when its stuck in the splash screen i can`t even access the BIOS.

Suddenly my battery is not charging when I'm plugged in. Laptop is 8 month old Inspiron 15 5559.
The problem seems to've started when I installed the Windows 10 Anniversary Update on 8/2/2016. Battery is at 81%, I'm plugged in but it's not charging. In an effort to resolve the problem I went to the Dell Power Manager and changed the setting from Adaptive to Custom, then set it to start charging when at or below 90% and stop charging at 99%, but that didn't help. I rebooted and checked again but again no help.
What can be done to resolve this?
