Dell Latitude D531 Overheating and switching off

My Mother Uses a Dell Latitude D531 laptop computer so go about her daily work. The d531 running windows 7 is ideal for what she does but unfortunatly when she starts playing pointless Facebook Games such as Candy Crush ect the fan comes on really loud and shuts the computer down you can feel the heat under the laptop and throught the keyboard.

So at first I cleaned the heatsink out, re applied thermal grease and put everything back together and it was fine  for a couple of weeks the fan still ran fast (but since it's AMD / ATi based I expected that)

but after a couple of weeks it was back to its usual tricks. I have added different thickness' of copper shims but it still goes off and now i'm at a loss, I even downloaded a program to make the fan run constantly but the laptop still goes off when on facebook games

It currently has 3 copper shims under the GPU and 2 under the processor and I am out of ideas i have bought a brand new fan to fit to it but does anyone have any ideas ???

Specs:

2.00GHz AMD Turion 64 X2

4GB Ram

Sandisk 120GB SSD

15.4" Glossy Screen

Windows 7 Enterprise 64 bit

We have had this laptop 4 years it was brand new when we got it 4 years ago never been opened so as you can imagine it is in emaculate condition

Any ideas?????
