[Inspiron 15 5559] Battery doesn't charge

Hi, 

      I have recently been experiencing this problem, "plugged in, not charging." Whenever I connect the charging cord to the laptop, the battery LED indicator comes on, but it disappears in 2-3 secs. The laptop's battery is 0%, so whenever I try to take the cord out, the laptop shuts down. Whenever I use the laptop I have to keep the charging cord plugged into the laptop always. And whenever the laptop turns on, it says the AC adapter is unknown while I'm using the right Dell adapter. Help would be really appreciated!
